HEALTH played a new song at Incubate

11:22 AM

HEALTH toured Europe once again in the recent days, playing festival shows at Berlin Festival on Friday, among others. At yesterday’s final show at Dutch Incubate Festival a premier took place: the noise-electronic-rock act performed a new, yet unnamed song (watch the video below). Suddenly, there’s a melody not getting corroded or deconstructed. If you remember, that the other three members of the band didn’t even understand what singer Jake Duzsik was singing about, when their debut album was recorded in 2007, you might, but really only might, consider this track as “pop”, in the context of the previous HEALTH workings of course. Musically the new piece definitely tied to “USA Boys“. The excitement bar for their third and upcoming album,  the successor of Get Color does rise anyway.

Recently, HEALTH put out a cover of Pictureplane’s “Goth Star”:

September erscheinenden A Meaning EP des New Yorkers Braille erscheinen wird. Ein schöner Synergieeffekt, handelt es sich beim veröffentlichenden Label doch eben um Roses Hotflush.

Die nächste Ausgabe von Sub:stance im Berghain steht unterdessen am 7. Oktober an. Diesmal gesellen sich zu Rose u.a. Adrian Sherwood, Martyn und Untold.

The Horrors : Listen to new album Skying

12:46 PM

On July 11 XL Recordings will release the new album of the Horrors, Skying. Now the complete record has been made available for streaming already. A first listening reveals: first preview “Still Life” is not the only more poppier song here. What do you think of it?

You can find the band’s tour schedule on their website.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah : Hysterical arrives in September

08:16 PM

Once again you can loudly shout out, Yeah! (YEAH!), and even get a bit Hysterical (that’s the album title) this time. Brooklyn’s Clap Your Hands Say Yeah have announced the release of their third full-length, the first in four years, for September 12 (Europe). A first video teaser suggests the band’s going wide-screen with this one, but producer John Congleton‘s portfolio is a deep one, including Modest Mouse, St. Vincent, Explosions In The Sky, Clinic or the Polyphonic Spree. So we’ll have to see listen to. First live dates got already confirmed for September as well.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah live:
02.09. End of the Road Festival, North Dorset
06.09. Queens Social Club, Sheffield
07.09. Scala, London
09.09. Berlin Festival, Berlin
12.09. La Maroquinerie, Paris
13.09. Melkweg, Amsterdam
14.09. Gebaude 9, Cologne

Com Truise & VVV ready their debut albums

05:34 PM

On July 4, Ghostly International and New Jersey’s Seth Haley alias Com Truise will bring you the recent space odyssey called Galactic Melt – as visualised on the above cover. And ‘odyssey’ is by no means a cliché here, since the album is Haley’s attempt to record a sci-fi bildungsroman or film score on the life and death human rebirth of his alter ego Truise, a lonesome robot lost in space. Listen to first album foretaste “Cathode Girls” below and download “Polyhurt” of the three-non-album-track-single Fairlight, Ghostly released last week already. German distribution is in the hands of !K7.

In other news, As we learnt from FACT, Texan producer Martin Clark alias VVV will soon (date’s still lacking) release his debut album on Scottish label Fortified Audio, which is run by Gordon Stewart and already put out his EP The Projects. The now full-length transatlantic collaboration got fittingly named Across the Sea. And since this is our first time mentioning this fine 2-step artist, you can find three from our present VVV favourites below (all not included on the album, which will be eight-track-strong). Also give “Linder Years” and “Remaining Seconds” a listen. A first teaser of the complete record can be heard here.

Tyler, the Creator : Update

04:17 PM

With London and Amsterdam lying behind them, Tyler, the Creator and Odd Future have reached the half-time of their short European tour. In England, DUMMY was rather pleased by the gig (“[…] They were tight.“) and Abeano compiled a series of smaller video shots done all around the trip with the gang.

And there’s more new content to get warmed up with before the collective hits Paris on Thursday and Berlin on Friday – both already sold out. “Tron Cat” is another leaked track coming from Tyler’s also on Friday via XL Recordings / Beggars released full-length Goblin (out on Monday in the UK). Eventually, Yours Truly met the rapper at the piano bar to gain some interesting insights on the role music played in his life. Watch the video interview above and listen to the song below.

Mount Kimbie : Free track “Brave’s Chords” from new EP Carbonated

05:04 PM

The by us recommended tour has already begun, but now Hotflush has announced the last release from Mount Kimbie‘s debut album Crooks & Lovers. New EP Carbonated will be out on June 27 and feature besides the original album track and its remixes by Peter Van Hoesen and Airhead, its forerunner on the LP, the short intermezzo “Adriatic”, in a remix version by Klaus plus two previously unreleased tracks.

While “Flux” was created during the C&L recording process, “Bave’s Chords” is a little charming find from the time around their 2009 breakthrough song “Maybes”. The latter was part of the bands recent intense but slightly weird performance in front of a silent crowd with headphones on for Abbey Road Debuts, which you can watch over at Dummy. You can download “Bave’s Chords” for an E-mail address below.

These New Puritans : Live video and download before the last Hidden gigs

Following their concerts together with the Britten Sinfonia, These New Puritans are now about to end the life circle of their second album Hidden (Angular/Domino) during this year’s festival summer to return to the studio again. Their for now last live appearance will hence take place on July 16 at Germany’s Melt! Festival. A new live video from the orchestra tour and a free download of their latest single “Hologram” recoded live should bridge the waiting time until then.

Web tip: Concert videos via Noisey

04:13 PM

After founding the Creators Project and the Motherboard together, the VICE network and its partner firms Intel and DELL have now launched new media portal noisey.com. Noisey devotes itself to the live music experience, offering a half-documentary mixture of high-quality (not Youtube-jiterry) shots from the gig and background interviews with the protagonists and their environment. The focus lays on young bands and artists from altogether elven countries (from the US to China) including the likes of Das Racist, Yuck or Pictureplane.

Also featured are London’s Factory Floor, who’ll headline the for now last warehouse event by Dollop in town tonight. JD Twitch from Optimo will deejay afterwards. Watch the first of five videos on the band below and the rest over at Noisey. Also read an interview we recently did with Sam Lawrence, the man behind Dollop, here.
