New Justice single & first details of The Embassy’s next album

02:27 PM

After their design company in charge, Paris’ Surface to Air, put out the cover of upcoming Justice single “Civilization” on Friday, it was their record label Ed Banger, who just announced the single’s release for April 4. And of course it’s the first (true) foretaste from the French duo’s upcoming second album.

Also during last weekend Swedish boat pop act The Embassy told our staff, that they are indeed back in the studio recording their all-in-all third and first album for six years. This time their producer will be former TSOOL guitarist Björn Olsson, who already produced the band’s debut album Futile Crimes and partly Tacking, and not Studio’s Dan Lissivk, who was with them on last single “State ’08”. Following a five-song-longshort set in Berlin (including three new tunes), Fredrik Lindson and Torbjörn Håkansson furthermore revealed, that they almost split last year. If everything goes well now, the third Embassy-full-length will be out this fall via Service.

The Creators Project : Yuksek

10:00 AM

Another inside view: A very clear, focussed Pierre-Alexandre Busson opens the musical concept Yuksek (while giving hints on why he started The Krays) to The Creators Project at his rather isolated home studio in Reims, France, but not without the obligatory glass of champagne. Catch the Frenchman on Thursday along with We Have Band and Trashpop at the Jägermeister Wirtshaustour in Berlin – you can still win guest list invites for the night on the tour’s website.

And here’s a second Yuksek-preview:

Jamie xx x Gil Scott-Heron : We’re New Here : album stream

Interesting promotional concept, pirate radio style: We’re New Here, Jamie xx‘ common re-work with Gil Scott-Heron of the same’s recent comeback album I’m New Here, is currently getting transmitted via radio senders all almost all over the world for free. Unfortunately only modern smartphones are able to receive the stream but there’s a huge number of transmitters in the whole UK and Germany (every Bundesland has at least one with even middle-sized towns among the spots), but also in the most parts of Western / Northern / Central Europe and North America. James Blake : Live at BBC Radio 1

Is there something more beautiful than to start the day with James Blake? Not in our eyes. Find two additional recordings of “Limit To Your Love” and “Lindisfarne” from the session here and read all the essential details on this fine young man by us here.

Will Ja, Panik turn to Yes, Panic with DMD KIU LIDT?

05:38 PM

Dear English-speaking friends, cognition will await you: According to there are rumours that former Melange-Vienna now Kebab-Berlin band Ja, Panik have turned to English lyrics on their new and fourth record. And potz Blitz (old German slang for: holy shit), this innovation would bridge all crude Google translation and probably even less nimble explanation by us directly to the genius of this band!

As long as singer and songwriter Andreas Spechtl is as virtuous on the new terrain as on the previous records The Taste and the Money, The Angst and the Money and debut album Ja, Panik. And here we are back with the facts, since the new piece will be released on April 16 via Staatsakt, but with cryptic title DMD KIU LIDT, definitely not following the band’s album naming tradition.

But its meaning should be revealed by the release (there’s already a countdown on and first hints can be traced tonight, when Ja, Panik are playing in Kreuzberg, Berlin, not far away from Neukölln’s Chèz Cheri-Studios, where they recorded the new material with producer Moses Schneider. Find more event info here.

There’s also a blog entry Spechtl recently dedicated to the “Überleben in der Metropole” (surviving in the metropolis) and by that to the flâneur and the surveillance state (or society), including its Napoleon beginnings.  We quote the end but truly recommend the whole reading:

Der Flaneur jedoch kann unter bestimmten Umständen, in gewissen Konstellationen, für jeden und alles Liebe empfinden. Er ist der einzig wahre Liebende in den letzten Tagen dieser alten Welt und allein er kann in ihr noch Liebe erfahren.
