Melt! Festival 2011

08:24 PM

As already in the year of  2009 and 2010 we presented you the most important and current information directly from the Melt!-Festival. In contrast to the last years the festival returned the his roots. But this wasn’t a reason for the people to stay away. And so the melt! was sold out early ago. Despite of the electronical renaissance with Paul Kalkbrenner, The Koletzkis, DJ Kotze, Boys Noize and many more the headliner were well know Indie-Legeneds: Pulp. This gallery will take you on a short tour through all days and stages at the Melt!.

Patrick Wolf is giving away song

10:25 AM

Patrick Wolf has changed his email newsletter system. Well, no big news but the British artist has a weak heart for all the fans who see themselves now stressed with registering again or newly. So he is giving away a free download in reward. Picked song is a demo of the 2nd track of his 2003er full length debut “Lycanthropy”, folk anthem “Wolf Song”. If you want to register now go here (and if just want the song go directly to here).

German festivals are cooler

01:30 PM

Did you know? German festivals are way cooler than any other events anywhere else. Even if it’s pretty unorganized, everyone will think that’s it’s still really well and German-like organized. The weather is nice, the festival side is often not far away from the big cities (or even placed in them) and nearly everyone’s good-looking. Funny bears are running around, while little kids are driving around in rocket cars and girls are playing weird instruments like the “Quadrorgel”. And between this lovely mess you can still watch your favourite bands from the US and UK like MGMT, Black Lips, HEALTH, Metronomy, Patrick Wolf, Crystal Antlers mixed with some German and continental European acts like Turbonegro, Element Of Crime or Whitest Boy Alive. Of course I’m talking about the latest Dockville Festival in Hamburg.

Robyn & Lykke Li onstage in burqas

While Germany was torn between Cologne’s c/o Pop Festival with a Patrick Wolf losing his mind after his PA got turned down for bureaucratic reasons, Hamburg’s very hot Dockville Festival and Haldern Pop next to the German-Dutch boarder one of Europe’s biggest festival highlights took place in Gothenborg, Sweden.

Sadly we couldn’t join Way Out West with great performances by Antony and the Johnsons (including an entire sinfony orchestra), My Bloody Valentine, Wolfmother, Fever Ray, Arctic Monkeys and many more, but we want to show the following short film: highly appreciated Swedish singer Robyn teamed up with her friend Lykke Li live on stage at her Friday afternoon gig. The two ladies even pulled their listeners attention with some special accessoires. Singing Queen’s “I Want To Break Free” in duet Robyn and Lykke wore two grey burqas that they slipped off later. See the video here:

See all of his pics here and read our summed up review of the festival plus some secret hints on the headliner of 2010 and our interview with Fever Ray.
