Berlin: Heineken Green Sphere (win)

01:30 PM

The location bears the probably most beautiful name in town (Insel der Jugend, isle of youth), the dominant colour is the one of hope (green) and the line-up is a fine and well-selected one. With the Heineken Green Sphere Berlin’s Spree riverside in Treptow will see a fountain of youth manifesting itself in a small Sunday’s openair.
Playing their for now only German gig, Island quintet FM Belfast (photo) will headline the event. It’s feisty cliché-free electro pop they play, which will already go for a second round on June 3 with the release of new full-length Don’t Want To Sleep on Morr. The first impressions embedded below, “I Don’t Want To Go To Sleep Either” (video) and “New Year” (download), turn out be respectively enthusiastic. (And if you need to be convinced by the band’s live qualities first, there’s also a complete and exuberant video recording of a gig, they did earlier this year.)
A diverse DJ support comes from UK band Foals, the always busy Berlin scene eclectics Hunee (Hunch Music, Rush Hour, Permanent Vacation, Ostgut Ton, …) and Hugo Capablanca (Bananamania, Broken Hearts Club, Los Massieras) plus Remmidemmi.

You can register for the event on their website or just win 1×2 guestlist invites here, by being at least 18 years old and leaving us a green comment below! The winner will be chosen by our green thumb random, so good luck!

Berlin: It’s time for outdoor raves and evenings at the Club der Visionäre (open again!). And once you are out, you might join one or the other party below without regrets:

THURSDAY

20 Jazz Funk Greats welcomes a yet unknown guest from DFA and Rong Music at Soju Bar – sounds like  Lee Douglas. Anyway, it will be a good choice and Mo Probs plus Preston G. Parallax are also there.

FURTHERMORE: Jacki Oh! with Derek Plaslaiko, Samanta Fox and The Swift (Wilde Renate) will take place at Chez Jacki (behind Maria).

A Forest want to introduce their new album A Square to you at .HBC.

FRIDAY

Matt Mondanile alias Ducktails comes from New Jersey, USA, to Berlin for a gig at Westgermany. Noah Lennox of Animal Collective, aka Panda Bear, is one of his biggest supporters and recently joined him for one track in the studio. Apart from that, Ducktails are one of these acts, which pay much attention to not sounding like they would pay much attention to their sound, which might be confusing and often goes wrong in other cases, but here results into some beautiful pop songs.

Furthermore: With iNPUT !NPUT a new event series kicks-off at Magnet Club. The aimed mixture of “indietronic, electro, indiepop and everything in between” doesn’t sound that new, but a line-up of Xinobi, Finckobot, the Whatever DJ-team and A Design for Life at least promises some surprises. So are you up for a try?

If not, the probably better version of this party (sadly with less acts) takes place at Rosis: Remmidemmi and Turbotobi perform a Tapetenwechsel (look it up).

SATURDAY

They are spectacular live, the mainly folkloric influences in their house-music construct are almost uncountable: French duo Nôze (photo) returns to the Spree with a full band, Raz Ohara as support and the new album Dring, which is out April 4 via Get Physical, in the backhand – a must-go-to event at Astra. Tickets are still available here.

Furthermore: At Karl-Liebknecht-Str. 11 (former Loreley) Pierre and Matze have a big party for the first anniversary of their all-rounder Mit Vergnügen. They will deejay as Remmidemmi and also some invited friends will do themselves the honour at the turntables.

Telephones of Prins Thomas’ Full Pupp label is living between Bergen and Berlin, but at this night he’ll be at the latter’s Picknick to meet Jeffrey Sfire (Chicago!) of Ghostly International, Franz Underwear and Emile Doesn’t Drive for Retro Futuro.

WeSC has a new sneaker collection and celebrates it at 1st Floor with Nhan Solo and Robosonic a.o.
